Schengen visa – opportunities, countries and types!

The Schengen visa applies to the territory of the following states:

Austria, Belgium, Hungary, Germany, Holland, Greece, Denmark, Iceland, Spain, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Finland, France, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Sweden, Estonia.

According to the terms of the Schengen Agreement, a Schengen visa should be issued at the consulate of the country that is the main purpose of the trip (it is not a prerequisite, for more information please call 89141379750).

If during one trip you plan to visit several states of the Schengen zone at once, to obtain a Schengen visa you should contact the consulate of the country where you plan to spend most of days.

If the number of days in all countries is the same, you need to apply for a visa at the consulate of the country of first entry. The set of documents that must be collected for obtaining a visa depends on the purpose of your trip.

As the goals of  travel abroad are different, so is the length of staying abroad. Therefore, visas are divided into different categories.

Category A - is an airport transit visa, which allows its holder to stay in the transit area of an international airport without the right to visit the territory of the state.

Category B is also a transit visa, but designed to travel through the territory of one state in order to visit another.

Category C is the most popular type of visa. It is issued for short-term visits. In reality, visa C is a real Schengen visa. You can use it to arrive in the country whose embassy issued it to you, and then travel within the entire Schengen area. It should be clearly understood that you cannot work on this visa.

Visa C has a number of subtypes, usually denoting the length of stay and the frequency of entry:

C1 - entitles you to enter for up to 30 days;

C2 - entitles you to enter from 31 up to 90 days;

C3 - a visa for multiple entry (multivisa), which is valid, as a rule, for 1 year and allows you to stay in the Schengen area for no more than 90 days;

С4 - similar to type С3 with the difference that it is issued for a period of up to 5 years.

Category D - this visa is intended to enter a specific country (national visa) and gives rather broad powers to its owner: to stay on the territory of the state for a long time, get a job with the possibility of further obtaining a residence permit, etc.

Although you often hear the phrase “Schengen type D visa”, you should be aware that, in fact, this is not entirely true. Let us remind you once again that only a category C visa can rightfully bear this "title".

On September 14, 2015, new rules for issuing Schengen visas were introduced in the Russian Federation. These rules concern providing mandatory fingerprinting.
